WRT the Macarena, what I hated about the song was not the tune or the words, but the way it turned dancing into this creepy totalitarian exercise of robotic movement devoid of any human emotion or spontaneity.

I didn't say it was unpopular. It's #24 on the Beatles' One, and in fact I said it was overrated, which sort of implies popularity. But a ****load of people liked "Achy Breaky Heart" too. That didn't make me like it.

Imagine is all about optimism and idealism, Layla obviously about falling in love. If you can't connect emotionally with the songs, they are simply hollow vessels.

I object to Imagine because I resent preachiness, especially the simplistic kind (remember, I disliked Avatar as well). Also communism is retarded, and I like religion-bashing about as well as you like fundamentalism, for obvious reasons. If I were not an idealist, I'd hardly be religious in the first place. I'm certainly not an optimist, but then that's far from unique to Aspies.

I don't connect with Layla because the tune isn't too interesting. I never tried to decipher its lyrics, but all I can recall ever making out is "Layla, you got me on my knees." Something like that. Okay. I don't hate it, or Something, they just aren't terribly exciting.

As to your amateur psychoanalysis of a guy you only know through his typed posts on the internet, we're not emotionless freaks, you know. We sometimes have difficulty understanding others' emotions due to flawed perception of nonverbal cues, but we feel everything normal people do. I'm currently very much in love with my wife, for example. Do you know one of us in real life?
