No I'm not very familiar with celebrities' personal lives... regardless, I like the song he did with Kanye West and his music is pleasant to listen to, even if it puts DRose into a murderous rage.

The fact that he is a douche is why I like him. I used to hate him, but he's grown on me.

"Wonderful tonight" by Eric Clapton. A stumbling, damp-trousered drunk's nauseating tribute to his enabling doormat of a wife.

Did you know the fun history behind that song? In case you didn't, or just to enlighten the rest of the class:

Clapton wrote "Wonderful Tonight" as a tribute to some groupie chick who had, at the time, just left George Harrison for him. George Harrison (I think it was him, some ex-Beatle anyway) also responded to the relationship change by writing a song, in his case "What is Life." That song, while also evincing an unhealthy relationship dynamic (chorus: "Tell me, what is my life without you? Tell me, who am I without you by my side?") is actually sort of fun in a mindless-frothy-pop sort of way.

The actual chick in question does not appear to have been all that anyway. Several months ago, I was browsing through the bargain bin of a bookstore with my wife/GF--forget what she was at the time--when we came across a book entitled "Riding Rock-Legend Penis for Fun and Profit." No, wait, it was called "Wonderful Tonight," and it was the memoirs of the woman in question, complete with a contemporary picture on the cover. She did indeed have long blond hair, but was otherwise the sort of woman who was only considered beautiful in the sixties or thereabouts. Small, anorexically skinny, round-faced, no curves. It was kind of scary, actually, like someone had taken a starving Croatian street waif, hosed her down a little and dressed her up in a rainbow dress and gigantic sunglasses.

That's nice. Layla is massively overrated--barely even memorable. Ditto Something and Wonderful Tonight. Haven't heard Bell Bottom Blues. But I did misremember some facts.
