You also like men, and I don't hesitate to say we're icky. To be clear, I'm not saying it's bad, it's a pleasant listen, just...overrated. Like Something. I wouldn't change the channel if it came on the radio, I'd just say, "Huh. Layla's playing. Okay."
Also, WhyTF did that blonde inspire a song about a girl with an Arabic name meaning "night," anyway?

You hated me already, Drake, so it hardly matters.

But all this is sort of a sidetrack. Does anyone else hate "Sweet Caroline?"
WRT the Macarena, what I hated about the song was not the tune or the words, but the way it turned dancing into this creepy totalitarian exercise of robotic movement devoid of any human emotion or spontaneity.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney—the two principal songwriting members of the band—both praised "Something" as among the best songs Harrison had written. As well as critical acclaim, the single achieved commercial success, topping the Billboard charts in the United States, and entering the top 10 in the United Kingdom. The song has been covered by over 150 artists including Elvis Presley, Shirley Bassey, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, James Brown, Julio Iglesias, Smokey Robinson, Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker, and is the second-most covered Beatles song after "Yesterday". ...
Frank Sinatra was particularly impressed with "Something;" calling it "the greatest love song ever written," he sang it hundreds of times at various concerts.
You're so ignorant.
You hated me already, Drake, so it hardly matters.
My hatred for you resulting from the "only a psychotic child molester could possibly want more than $50" thread had faded, and you had a chance to get back in my good graces. Needless to say, that chance is gone now.KH FOR OWNER!

I didn't say it was unpopular. It's #24 on the Beatles' One, and in fact I said it was overrated, which sort of implies popularity. But a ****load of people liked "Achy Breaky Heart" too. That didn't make me like it.

There's a reason they wear makeup and we don't and have specialized hygiene products.

Imagine is all about optimism and idealism, Layla obviously about falling in love. If you can't connect emotionally with the songs, they are simply hollow vessels.

"Layla" was inspired by a Persian poem...
I have a feeling here -- and I'm not trying to be offensive -- that the reason you see nothing in these simple, "pleasant" songs everyone else seems to enjoy is your Aspergers. I'm not sure you read into the meaning and emotion the songs convey, which is really what they're all about.
I think this is a plausible explanation. I imagine Elok is the type of guy who loves Tarkus...KH FOR OWNER!

Nothing wrong with that song at all. Women seem to love it."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

I don't connect with Layla because the tune isn't too interesting. I never tried to decipher its lyrics, but all I can recall ever making out is "Layla, you got me on my knees." Something like that. Okay. I don't hate it, or Something, they just aren't terribly exciting.
As to your amateur psychoanalysis of a guy you only know through his typed posts on the internet, we're not emotionless freaks, you know. We sometimes have difficulty understanding others' emotions due to flawed perception of nonverbal cues, but we feel everything normal people do. I'm currently very much in love with my wife, for example. Do you know one of us in real life?

Oh and I have to say Achey Breaky Heart is loatheable since it led to him being famous which eventually caused the spawning of Hannah Montana."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
