Those numbers are overall, not just between two people.

1. How do you do overall? There are government services such as military and police that have no real equivents in the private sector. You get a more realistic picture if you compare equivalent positions. Lawyers to lawyers, janitors to janitors, mid-level managers to mid-level managers.

2. While I am in agreement with the base premise that public sector pensions are generous, depending on their COLA provisions (or lack) the assessment could look very different if we had some periods of high growth/inflation

I realise this is a problem everywhere, Canada included. Pensions are too high for civil servants. They are crippling budgets.

If the problem is everywhere, including in other countries and it has been this way for several years, what again is the role of Obama in this? He was in the title of your thread so I am gussing you meant to imply more than he happens to be president now and this issue still exists.

Again, it's a question of scope. If the difference were smaller, I could see this argument having merit. But twice as much?
