Who are you? Brian Boru? On the upside in Kosovo the Irish Army commissioned a nice mural of Brain Boru (High King of Ireland) on the wall of the base cantina. The Irish Army had some nice artists in it even if they were largely completely useless ****s.

Perhaps you already said it, Asher, but practically everyone in Ireland is descended from Brian Boru. Massive royalty fail, I'm afraid.

An "Irish" King ?? So basically subservient to any English nobility that happened by?

Murrough O'Brien, 1st Earl of Thomond, 1st Baron Inchiquin (Gaelic Murchada Ó Briain) (died 7 November 1551) was an Irish peer.

A member of the Irish nobility, he was the son of Turlough O'Brien King of Thomond and Raghnailt McNamara and also brother of Connor O'Brien King of Thomond, who was inaugurated King of Thomond in 1528. On his brother's death in 1540 he set aside his nephew Donough O'Brien and usurped the title of King of Thomond. He married Eleanor Fitzgerald, daughter of Thomas Fitzgerald, Knight of the Valley. They had three sons and four daughters.

In 1543 he surrendered his Irish royalty to King Henry VIII of England and the same year he was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Earl of Thomond, with remainder to his nephew Donough (who was created Baron Ibrackan on the same day) and Baron Inchiquin, with remainder to the heirs male of his body. The grant of the English titles was conditional upon the abandonment of native titles, the adoptation of English customs and laws, the pledging of allegiance to the English crown, apostasy from the Roman Catholic Church, and conversion to the Anglican Church. In August of that year he joined the king's Privy Council.

[edit] Surrender and regrant in the 1500s
From the 1530s Henry VIII adopted a policy of 'surrender and regrant', whereby the ruling families would surrender their lands and take them back within the English legal system. In 1555 the Irish College of Arms was set up in Dublin to allow the new lords to acquire coats of arms as in the rest of Europe. This college generally accepted and copied the old genealogies. Most families successfully made the transition from kingdoms to earldoms or lordships — with the same ruling dynasty — into the 17th century and beyond, taking their seats in the Irish House of Lords. However, the wars of 1595-1603, 1641-1650 and 1689-91 often resulted in a loss of land if they supported the losing side. By 1700 all had long being brought fully and firmly under the dominion of English rule, though local feeling for each area as a distinct entity lasted as least as late as the Great Famine.

Does that make Prince Asher a bottom?

Hilarious. I hope the poster formerly known as Asher keeps the name.
