Not a Vice President. Also, not a communist shill, or a convicted criminal. Or a secessionist.

I would take a communist criminal secessionist over Palin.

Glad to hear it. If Wallace had somehow succeeded FDR, there's not a Soviet demand he would have turned down. The Communists would have overrun South Korea with nary a peep from us, and oh by the way, odds are Wallace would have re-sparked a Depression. Not to mention there's just no way in hell NATO would have ever been founded.

And let's not even bring up spies in the federal government. You thought it was bad historically. Yeah, well. Let's see how the Wallace Administration does.

OTOH, a President Wallace would have ensured far-right GOP domination for the foreseeable future, which would be a good thing, assuming they could have undone Wallace's damage, which I ****ing doubt.

Indeed, that was her husband who was a member of that Alaskan secessionist group. She was the one who went to the African-born Christian "OMGWITCHESAREREALHARRYPOTTERISADOCUMENTARY!!1" preacher's church.

Wallace left his editorship position in 1948 to make an unsuccessful run as a Progressive Party candidate in the 1948 U.S. presidential election. His platform advocated friendly relations with the Soviet Union, an end to the nascent Cold War, an end to segregation, full voting rights for blacks, and universal government health insurance. His campaign was unusual for his time in that it included African American candidates campaigning alongside white candidates in the American South, and that during the campaign he refused to appear before segregated audiences or eat or stay in segregated establishments.
sounds like a man well ahead of his time.

of course david, i can understand why you reserve so much venom for him, given your facist leanings.

Yes, other than friendship with the Soviet Union. By which he of course meant doing whatever the hell they wanted - Stalin was still in charge in 1948, and please don't tell me you are that naive. And let's just recap here: friendship with the Soviet Union in the interests of world peace was quite frankly the exact same as friendship with Nazi Germany in the name of world peace. Of course, I'm sure that Stanley Baldwin and Neville Chamberlain are in your top 3 British Prime Ministers of all time, right?

And note that I won't even bring up socialized health care, which the American public didn't even want (and really, still doesn't).

And yes, I agree that Sarah Palin is a ****ing idiot. Had she ever been VEEP, I assure you, she would have made the poll.

                        I almost voted Spiro Agnew.

your political views as expressed here have become increasingly fascist over time. for example your views on police brutality.

to answer your point. 'friendly relations' can mean a lot of things, it doesn't necessarily imply surrender or appeasement. the US has 'friendly relations' with china for example. although i suspect you're one of those people who believe that mccarthy didn't go far enough.

I suspect you're wrong. Also, comparing 2010 PRC to 1948 Soviet Union is somewhere between disingenuous and dishonest. We can have friendly relations with an economic competitor that has a One Child Policy and a somewhat checkered past. We cannot have friendly relations with a Stalinist superpower, run by Joseph effing Stalin, and you know it.

Unless, of course, we abjectly surrender. I'm sure Mongolia enjoyed very friendly relations with Stalin

As for police brutality, I'm not in favor of it. But do you know how to avoid police brutality? Yup, that's right - don't resist arrest, especially when you know you're guilty.

What I actually think, BTW, is that FDR should have died about 4 months earlier, and Truman should have been around for the Yalta Conference. He would have told Stalin to get ****ed, as well he should have.
