Multi-page resumes are fine, if you are in a position that warrants it.

No one at 17 (or usually 20..22...) will warrant it.

Mine is two pages but concisely organized with a 'summary' at the top. I've many versions of it depending what I'm applying for. But this is because I've done such a wide variety of things since I started my career that I need the space to simply list them. My sort of position is a 'jack of all trades' type, and I need the space to demonstrate that.

If you're doing something lacking any skill whatsoever (HR, anything with an art degree ), 1 page is loads.

FWIW my resume has gotten me about 50 headhunter calls in the past 1 1/2 months since I posted it on monster and made it searchable. That's the other thing about having a longer resume in the tech scene -- it's all about the keywords with Monster.

Long resumes are a terrible, terrible idea. Put it in the cover letter for the position you are applying for.

The best advice here is from Ming, who actually has to look through resumes and make hiring decisions.

That you need a 'summary' tells me everything about your resume. It needs to be short and to the point.
