Is the organic food movement the most anti-science social movement out there?
Are we talking about you and I here or are we talking about the at large, mis-educated American population? Salad dressing. Whatever. Why do you just pick that one? Peanut butter? The UN feeds peanut butter (although apparently without HFCS) and plumpynut to starving children around the world. Bread? USDA loves the stuff! Raisin Bran and yogurt? Popularly-considered 'healthy' foods if there ever were any.
Don't act like it's not disturbing that various random and mundane foods that have no business having sugar additives in them have them. There's no reason for them to be in there and you're asking too much if you think American consumers are enlightened enough to investigate the contents of everything they consume.

Are you really too stupid to realize that a high-calorie food that is ideal for starving children is going to make you fat if it's part of your everyday diet?
Excess calories make people fat, dumbass, not HFCS.
Raisin Bran and yogurt? Popularly-considered 'healthy' foods if there ever were any.
There's no way in hell Raisin Bran or yogurt are going to make you fat on their own.
There's no reason for them to be in there and you're asking too much if you think American consumers are enlightened enough to investigate the contents of everything they consume.
All the mouth breathers need to pay attention to is calories per serving or, even better, calories per gram. Obesity problem solved.
KH FOR OWNER! ASHER FOR CEO!! GUYNEMER FOR OT MOD!!!
Oh my god, Drake! it's not exactly about making people fat! And why are you taking one or two random things and criticizing them but missing the entire point?
It's about there being no reason for HFCS to be put in Raisin Bran! Why is it in there? It's in so many things, staples of the American diet, for no apparent added benefit! Even if the whole criticism of HFCS is unfounded (and at the very least, there is enough evidence for there to be some level of concern), the fact that it is still a sugar and the fact that it is put into all these foods for no discernible reason is something to be concerned about.
Really, do you work for the corn or sugar industries or something? You act like it's good that this stuff is in so many foods!
And before you say, I don't care; I don't eat it, that's not the point. We have to pay as a society through rising health care costs, social programs, etc. for this crap.

No. Calories isn't the important thing. The source of the calories is more important. A calorie is not a calorie.
And no, I don't feel like having a calories in/calories out debate with you.

It's there because a bran flake tastes like **** without a little sweetener. People don't like food that tastes like **** and Kellogg's want to sell its cereal.
A more interesting question is why you think a little HFCS in Raisin Bran makes it unhealthy.

No, we don't. If our society wasn't full of idiots like you, we wouldn't be paying for all the healthcare costs of moronic fat people who can't figure out the very simple rules to healthy eating.
A calorie is not a calorie.
Oh my god, you are a ******!

That's good, because I'd ****ing pwn you.

Yeah okay. Because by me pandering "eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar", stressing the consequences of high carb diets, noting the possible problems associated with chemical additives, questioning the USDA-dictated nutrition pyramid and the calories in/calories out mantra that has so obviously worked so well for the American population, etc. etc. I'm contributing to the obesity epidemic.
Why do you keep with these attacks to my person?

My point was that morons like you vote for politicians who think it's a good idea to put the federal government on the hook for the healthcare costs of a nation of ignorant fatties. We don't "have" to do that and we shouldn't, as it's a ****ing horrible idea.

I've voted in two national elections in my life... 2004 and 2008. Voted straight Republican ticket both times.
And rising healthcare costs don't have to do with social programs... Having all these obese people using up resources contributes to higher costs and higher insurance premiums for all of us.

It's been a year since then so I'll give Drake some benefit of a doubt but you called me fatty what? 3 or 4 times?

What's needed is a full-fledged effort to cultivate "Whole Foods Republicans"—independent-minded voters who embrace a progressive lifestyle but not progressive politics. These highly-educated individuals appreciate diversity and would never tell racist or homophobic jokes; they like living in walkable urban environments; they believe in environmental stewardship, community service and a spirit of inclusion. And yes, many shop at Whole Foods, which has become a symbol of progressive affluence but is also a good example of the free enterprise system at work. (Not to mention that its founder is a well-known libertarian who took to these pages to excoriate ObamaCare as inimical to market principles.)
