  • Why is the Canadian Navy as out of shape as I am?

Seriously, wtf? It's Fleet Week in NYC and we ran into several members of the Canadian Navy at a bar in Murray Hill tonight. Every one of them had a beer gut to match mine. I've met many American naval officers and enlisted personnel, otoh, and they've all been in relatively good physical condition.

What's the deal? I've always wanted to join the military; is joining in Canada my golden ticket?

You really must enjoy a good chimney sweeping if you want to join the Canuck navy...

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

You can drink beer on Canadian Navy boats. It's why we're better.

While people on the US Navy boats rape eachother and go crazy, the Canadian Navy boats party with beer. Let's face it, the beer gut doesn't stop you from launching missiles.

When did the USN go dry? Was it part of prohibition?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Rape and plunder are two of the most important responsibilities of a maritime fighting force.

In other Fleet Week news, a couple of V-22s buzzed my commencement on Wednesday on their way up the Hudson. Very cool planes and unmatched by anything in the Russian arsenal.
