This seems very odd to me.

I value extra money in my bank account when I'm poor more than I value paying less in sales tax when I'm wealthy. That doesn't make much sense when you do the math, but I think many people feel the same.

That's not really similar. I don't get the same psychological lift out of an exogenous change in nominal prices that I do out of seeing my own decision to increase my savings rate also result in a lowering of my tax payments.

deferred = postponed or delayed
consumption = spending money on goods or services
saving money means it doesn't get spent right away, but instead the spending is postponed, in other words "deferred consumption"

So if I earn some money, but decide to keep it until I die and pass it on to someone else, and they spend it, it is deferred consumption.

I'm not going to let you bull**** your way into a semantics argument with me. You're lying. A consumption tax is lower for rich people than a flat tax. Everyone knows that.

Some taxes are worse than others.
