  • To whoever asked the question: yes, there is a large one-time transfer from people who have previously saved to those with negative savings.

    • This seems very odd to me.

I value extra money in my bank account when I'm poor more than I value paying less in sales tax when I'm wealthy. That doesn't make much sense when you do the math, but I think many people feel the same.

      • Why not simply multiply all nominal prices and wages by 1000 then? That should make you extra happy

        • That's not really similar. I don't get the same psychological lift out of an exogenous change in nominal prices that I do out of seeing my own decision to increase my savings rate also result in a lowering of my tax payments.

That'd make me happy, but I'd much rather see dollars renamed to FUN TOKENS. yay!

            • I'd prefer sales tax over income tax because then we wouldn't have to watch H&R Block commercials anymore.

saving money means it doesn't get spent right away, but instead the spending is postponed, in other words "deferred consumption"

So if I earn some money, but decide to keep it until I die and pass it on to someone else, and they spend it, it is deferred consumption.
I'm not going to let you bull**** your way into a semantics argument with me. You're lying. A consumption tax is lower for rich people than a flat tax. Everyone knows that.

Some taxes are worse than others.

Maybe that's why we have a tax reform thread.
Yes, you want lower tax for rich people. We get that.

I'd prefer a high sales tax. At least I have some control over how much I end up paying in sales tax.

That's stupid. You have 100% control over how much income tax you pay.

I've paid much more in sales tax since I've been poor than I have in income tax and we don't even have a national sales tax. Don't speak for poor people.

You say that as if you are somehow against the idea of allowing people to keep what they earn.

Just saying, but given your demonstrated understanding of economics and intelligence in general, it's painfully obvious to me why you are poor.

I want people who don't already have everything they want to keep what they earn and still pay for federal spending of course.

Usually people like you accuse people of being stupid because they have different political beliefs. All that does is show your dishonesty.

                            • Why would you earn money it if you didn't want it?

                              Edit:

Can anyone else figure out what he's trying to say? I can't actually tell what he means at all. Seems mutually exclusive.

If you have to ask that you don't know what it means to want.
