It has everything to do with what we're talking about. A poor person paying rent is simply paying interest on a loan, the loan being the living space. Without Drake's savings account, it wouldn't be possible to take out the loan. So there would be no apartment at all!

Anyone who is earning money obviously doesn't have everything they want. So everyone should keep what they earn and pay no taxes.

They would both be regressive taxes in that case. I never heard of making unearned income exempt for a flat tax. That makes it NOT FLAT.

In fact, the WHOLE POINT of why this tax is superior to the current income tax is in its differential treatment of earned and unearned income (removing the distortion at the saving/spending margin).

If you could read you would have noticed me making precisely that point.
