Nothing in particular. Some people say the economy hasn't been as good since, but I think it was starting to go bad when he was pres.

Well it's possible to set the level so high that no one would quit, but I would say that would be too high. I think they set it about perfect.

You realize that I mentioned Nixon because he IMPLEMENTED widespread price and wage controls?

Just ask anyone who had to wait in line for gas every other day during the 70s. My father remembers it quite well.

Those price controls were made to fail. There were obvious problems with them.

Yes, the problems being that they were price and wage controls

                        They subvert supply and demand.

If you need more examples, just look at the French Revolution. Fixing the price of bread didn't do anyone much good.

Demand? Not sure what you mean. They do tend to decrease supply. The amount of which is dependent on the amount of control over the price. If the market is doing a particularly poor job at keeping the price reasonable. The price can be controlled quite a bit with only a small decrease in supply. The result is a huge saving to consumers, or in this case tax payers.

I don't know about that particular example, but at the least you could say that it kept the price of bread lower.

While I'm VERY bad at economics, this appears to be a thoroughly specious argument. Kind of like "obese patients with diabetes respond well to this treatment; ergo, all patients with diabetes should receive this treatment."
It's a Kantian argument. If it's truly beneficial it ought to be maximised for everyone. Can you show that wage and price controls are beneficial to the ceos? No, it's intended to punish them, not benefit them.
