The problem with the Russian team was mostly the coach. I don't know who this guy is (probably some KHL coach), but he does NOT know how to coach a team. Nabokov should've been pulled long before he was. The matchups should've changed after the first couple goals by Canada early in the game. The coach didn't change **** all while Canada demolished the team. Their team was capable of more.

The other problem was the Russian defense. These guys just didn't care.

He is a legendary Soviet player (just check his statistics) and the best coach we had since the fall of USSR. Though it was a very bad game for him.

He was a great coach there, and he showed himself to be an awful coach in the Olympics. That's the difference in calibre. Junior vs major league.

Similarly, this game illustrated how KHL players are nowhere near NHL calibre. The best KHL player at the games was a Norwegian: Patrick Thoreson, whoc was pretty goddamn awful in the NHL.
