Arkansas got snow for the second straight week. We got 9 inches last week, it melted and we are getting 6 inches so far tonight. School is out and people have gone ****ing nuts. More so than usual anyway.

I can't help but think that the last snowstorm, and the next one that will be hitting the east coast, along with the unusually severe winter weather in the south, are the next disasters that I referred to in my preemption apology thread.
In light of this, I hope people have accepted my apology on behalf of gay people for the snowstorms.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

We've gone over this before.
(1) 110v works well. Electricity is transported at higher voltages, so no real downside to 110v as far as I know.
(2) The reason why we only bury power cables in the cities is because the population density warrants it there. Burying power cables is too expensive for the majority of the US, so we don't do it in those places. I think you'll find that the US economizes well in many areas. Europe pays insane electricity rates compared to most of the US.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

It started again overnight here, we're supposed to get another 5-8".
Of course, despite this being smack-dab in the middle of the Midwest and we get big snowstorms every year, people are freaking the **** out.

Well, Columbus is no Michigan. That's for sure. Everything South of I-70 doesn't really get that much snow during the winter.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. We're going to get this one (it has just started here).
I'm supposed to be in Windsor tomorrow morning. I was given the choice of going today and staying overnight or taking my chances in the morning and having a "snow day" if travel was too dangerous.
