Jesus Christ, Ben. This problem is extremely well documented as is the fact that the water pollution comes just about exclusively from Mexico. Rather then just running your mouth after you've been conclusively proven wrong why not just google "Tijuana river" or look in the wiki? In two seconds you could be straight with all the facts yet you just continue to lie, knowing full well you're talking out of your ass, mostly because you're such a little person you don't want to admit you were wrong.

Rather then doing your usual flailing about with lies, wild claims, and laughable denials why not just man up and admit you were completely wrong, you spoke about something you knew nothing about, and then say you'll try not to make the same mistake again? Ok, I'm going to jump in here cause on this one I have some basis for expertise. First I live in Texas and have complained many times here at Poly that I hate going through the drive through and I have to revert to spanish just to get my order right! But to the trash issue..

For the last 18 years my husband has worked for a company that drives the street sweepers and cleans up Austin basically. All the strip shopping centers, malls, construction sites, you name it they clean it. And for a time I worked there and drove a sweeper truck until I hit a pole and took out the drive shaft but that's another thread.

Anyway as one can imagine you get to see every part of Austin and without question the bario or mexicanville is the most dirty, trashy, disgusting, bum ridden lying in the streets drunk part of town. Without question. It's filthy. They don't care, why should they most of them are here without permission, and there you are, another thread.

So my point is yes, their quite the trashy lot.

I think it is mostly cultural due to having a truly corrupt government for so long that plundered the country for the benefit of the few and then literally provided no basic services to the bottom 90% of the population. We're talking no free public education for huge segments of society even to this day, large areas which didn't have paved roads for decades which they only just started paving in the 80's & 90's, huge segments of the population without running water for decades, no public sanitation to speak off nor any public trash collection, etc... This is starting to change but you still have the lasting effect of the fact that it has been standard practice to just dump all of your trash on the side of the road for over a century, to just dump untreated sewage into the nearest body of water, and it is going to take generations to change this litter bug habit they have as a cultural group.

The sewage problem is a big problem but it's only, honestly, a short term problem as sewage breaks down relatively quickly in the ocean. The bigger problem is industrial waste dumped directly into the river. Tijuana has a huge electronics industry based on American and east Asian companies setting up factories there to service the American market. Unfortunately, one of the biggest side products of electronics manufacturing is heavy metals and huge amounts of these are dumped by the Mexican factories into the rive ultimately ending up in the US or worse in the Pacific ocean where they poison fish and wild life. Ultimately this harms the health of people who eat seafood especially top predators like tuna or salmon as we end up with heavy metals in the fish we eat.

In the 1970's and 1980's San Diego was the country's largest center for the manufacturing of television sets but now virtually all of them (except for one Sony plant) have moved to Tijuana. TVs and computer monitors along with lots of other electronics are made there and all of these factories produce hazardous waste which Mexican law doesn't allow to be dumped into rivers but which no one in Mexico actually enforces. It's cowboy capitalism at its worst.
