Whenever I come home to good ol-Alberta I stock up on booze. In Soviet Ontario, you can only buy liquor from the government-owned LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario). They set the prices, they choose the stock. It's really awesome!
In Alberta, you can buy booze from private vendors. More stock, lower prices.
For comparison, I just bought a 15-year old Dalwhinnie scotch.
In Canadian Dollars, it was $56.67 here in Alberta, plus 5% GST and a $0.10 deposit.
In Ontario, it's $89.99 plus 5% GST + 8% PST (and I think deposit is included?):
Alberta: $59.60 with tax ($56.07 USD)
Ontario: $101.68 with tax ($95.65 USD)
Insane. Ontario is demonstrably evil.
How much is this bottle where you live?
