End of the month but I would appreciate early submissions. I will have better things to do in late December than compile team lists.

If you play, play a simple fighter or some such so that you can get the hang of the role playing aspect of it before delving into the complexities. It always sucks to spend time putting a 1 hit dice wizard together to have them get killed in the first 2 minutes of play because of stiff wind or something.
Playing D&D now seems silly to me. I played a lot back in the 70's but it's a LOT of work. There could be thousands of die roles in a single sitting with an administrative effort equal to running a large city. PC's have been used to remove most of the tedium from the game and many games have simulated D&D quite well. Granted you can't be as creative or "out of the Box" like in a game hosted by a dungeon master, but the trade off in speed and simplicity makes up for it, in my opinion.

If they're D&D diehards, it's not likely. But if you do play, ask the DM if he'll do all his die rolls out in the open. If he says no, then he's probably a sucky DM.

If you play as a Dwarf fighter, it would be in character.

Oh, I totally disagree with this. It really depends on the kind of game you want to play. Sometimes the dice do dumb things that screw up the story the players are acting out. For some players, that's fine. If their wizard dies tripping over a rock, then that's the story; they laugh it off and create a new character. For other players, this sort of thing would ruin the dramatic tension of the game and make for an unnecessary hassle. So yeah, the DM fudging dice is totally okay for certain kinds of games.

So your point is, I'm a heavily-bearded, axe-wielding epitome of a man, who, although I am only 4' tall, is capable of inflicting incredible amounts of whup-ass on unsuspecting fools?
