I didnt bother to read page 2 or 3 so this may have been mentioned, but french canadian folk music is a unique style. Obviously, like the newfie and other eastern folk music styles, it originated from the 'home' countries but I'd say that the Quebec folk-style moved further from the original than the others.

I'd also like to mention "Skinny Puppy" who were very influential if not the originators of Goth.

Yes, I could have easily made the thread about, say, Australian music tradition, or New Zealand music tradition.
