She just happens to be better at reasoning than you are. Who gets to make the decision?

    • But you are saying on certain issues (Ephesians 5 being one) if the Catholics stray, you will leave. How are you different than the Evangelical in that way in dissenting?
How is going to a different parish 'straying'? The priests have strayed from what the church teaches, not me.

Assuming it's one of the friends that I trust?

1 and 2 would be no issue whatsoever. We'd be of like minds.

3, would probably be the only one. I personally do not like public schools.

        • How about the children's attendance?
If they were well, I'd want them there.

          • If YOU alone decide YOU need to go to church, it is NOT a family decision.
Asher, we aren't going to go here. I see it as a family decision. I've dealt with enough **** from family over my decision to go.

            • And if your wife was dead set against it?

                • I was talking about the kids Ben. You should know that.

                  • Just clarifying.

                    Dead set?

Wouldn't get that far with someone who was dead set against it. If she changed her mind, I honestly am not sure what I would do.

                    • This is the most bizarre hypothetical ever. Even if Ben met someone who believed his crap, she still wouldn't want him because he's deaf.

Christ almighty we're already on a razor thin hypothetical limb by assuming someone would wed you and bear your children. Go with it.

                        Scenario:

She was a good Catholic girl, a virgin even, when you married.

Several years on you have two young children and your wife has gone demented (in your mind and probably by your hand). She refuses to allow the children to receive any religious indoctrination inside or outside the home.

Being a good Catholic you obviously can't divorce the demented *****.

Do you put your foot down and insist the children go to church?

A split would probably be inevitable.

Catholics vow in marriage that the children will be raised Catholic. If she reneges on that, I'd have grounds for the annulment.

Couple things here, kids are kids. We would have some serious issues to resolve that have nothing to do with them. If it came up say just between the two of us, I'd probably have the kids go to grandmas for awhile until we got this sorted out. If it came up on Sunday with all us heading out the door, I'd have them come along we would go, and then I'd probably come back take them to their grandmas and do the same.

                            • My answer is very different depending on the type of breach. If she has misgivings, and wasn't sure at all, I'd probably keep them home, but I would go myself. My first concern would shift from them to her.
