In addition to being stunning ego centric, even for a political (she wanted to speak on election night?!) and quitting as Governor of Alaska before her term was up for... what, campaigning (way to go for a sense of duty)? She wants to be as much of a celebrity as President Obama is. She's just incredably more stupid.

I remember when I first heard she had been selected as the VP candidate, that it might have been a smart choice. (Like most people, I had NO CLUE who she was). A woman VP candidate might have been able to attract some of the Clinton supporters who were still pissed. But then, once I started reading up on her, and seeing what she was really all about, I had to seriuously question how she could have been selected. Didn't they do a deep background check on her? Was it just a spur of the moment decision? Who in their right mind could have seen her as a good pick after doing the research.

I admit that I liked her when I knew nothing about her. But the more I learned, the more I said WTF. I am shocked that she wasn't vetted more. It reflected poorly on John.

The first few days one might have claimed that. But after awhile............even some repugs like me had to agree with them.

I was going to address Ming, but I see rah made the same point.

McCain had a problem with his base. He had independents, but given his history with the Republican party, particularly as the founder of the 'Gang of 12', had a significant problem with his base support. Sarah Palin solved it.

The pick was not made for independents like you and rah. You folks were supposed to support McCain as the nominee regardless of his pick as VP. All you proved is that a republican on the independent side cannot corrall enough independent support to win.

The pick was for people like me which is rather odd considering I'm a Canadian. I was thrilled with Palin.

So that's a reason to vote for Obama as P over Palin as VP?

                Brain hurts.

In retrospect, you and I are both thrilled with Palin.

She put Obama in the whitehouse.

That's still no excuse for not vetting her properly. And I guarantee if his staff had, he WOULD NOT have selected her. But I don't know why I bother.

There were plenty of intelligent big time base-pleasing conservatives McCain could have chosen. Senator John Thune of South Dakota (recently profiled by David Brooks in an NYT editorial) is one.

I was a fan of Portman in Ohio. There were certainly other options, and I was certain that McCain would chose someone like him, over say Thune or Palin. I would have personally preferred someone with more experience than Palin, but again, not my decision.

I even said this in the months up before the election if you want to go back and check my posts.

I'm convinced his staff wanted to take her down as soon as she was appointed. I think his staff did vet her and McCain chose her anyways because of the 'historical' election. Frankly, I had a low opinion of McCain already, and it was lower after he picked Palin, but I liked Palin, and was happy he threw some meat to the base. I was much happier with the ticket as a whole.

                            Gee what a surprise.
Just like all the other trailer park trash, Ben makes me embarrassed to be a republican.
First he makes me feel guilty for ever being a Catholic and now this. Damn

Hmm, calling me trailer trash and invoking the name of Republicans. Isn't that a violation of the Reagan rule?

I thought it was a given as Obama is from Chicago that you and Ming voted for him.

More proof how little you know. But again, not a surprise.
