I don't care if hut dwellers in Africa claim to be christians (usually a strange hybrid of christianity and traditional tribal lore) so long as my neighbours aren't. Africans will receive a decent education someday. We'll work on removing their cobwebs of ignorance then.

One thing is that you can't take nonreligious to be atheist.

"In the U.S. about 13.2% of the population describe themselves as nonreligious, 0.5% describe themselves as agnostic, and a smaller number describe themselves as atheist (Kosmin, ARIS/American Religious Identification Survey, City University of New York, 2001). "

But atheism isn't growing faster (as a fraction of the earth's population) than Islam or some of the other faster growing religions.

How does anything you say, besides Canada being less religious, have any basis in fact or evidence?

You certainly can't count them as religious.

            Fair enough. I shall redefine.

Organised religion is growing in cultures where education is substandard. Find a ****hole 3rd world country and superstition thrives.

In countries were population is growing, people are religious. It is only in countries where population is falling that there are large non-religious populations. Note that the main reason why Christianity is losing it's lead as the leading religious is due to the lack of population growth in some of its traditional strong areas (europe/etc).

I expect religion to grow as a percentage of world population in my lifetime.

I'm a conservative Christian because I believe in the Bible. Liberals are evil because I'm a conservative. Liberal parts of the Bible must be wrong because liberals are evil. I'm a conservative Christian because liberal parts of the Bible are wrong.
FWIW, I totally reject the premise that these folks are in any way entitled to interpret scripture. This is a basic liberal school of thought that you can rewrite the bible to suit your own desires, and have it be more accurate.

I agree with them that liberals are just as bad when they rewrite the bible to suit their own prejudices, which is why we should use older bibles, that aren't afflicted in this way.

Which I suspect confirms what I said above.

I was under the impression than the 18-19th century was much more anti clerical and more virulent against religion than our times?
Hmm, that's a good question. I'd say yes for America, but no for the rest of the world. I think Catholicism was much stronger in Europe then, and weaker in America, and now the reverse is true. As for Canada, without a doubt it is worse now than it was back then.

He hates Christianity, can't you tell? He doesn't like it and he doesn't want anyone else to like it.

I repeat. How does being near a Christian affect you in any substantive way? You finding them to be icky is a sign of "delusions" of your own.
