Has the predicted New Cold War with Russian been averted or not?
Has North Korea agreed to return to the 6-Party Talks or not?
Has Iran agreed to permit nuclear inspectors in or not?
Would any of these things happened with Bush at the helm?

Nothing has changed with Russia.
You're counting on NK and/or Iran being more honest now than with Bush? That's exactly what they hope.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

[Q=MOBIUS;5689053]The Nobel Peace Prize is dead in my eyes. But then it has been when I realised they awarded the damned thing to Menachem Begin...[/Q] Yeah, good heavens, you wouldn't actually give the peace prize to a man who actually made peace! Outrageous!(\__/) Save a bunny, eat more Smurf!

[Q=Zkribbler;5688839]Remember the op-ed pieces several months back about the resurrection of the Cold War? Well, Obama gave in to the Russians instead of using strength as a bargaining tools for real diplomacy. The Committee cited this as a "success in lessening East-West tensions," whereas it is really moving all the tension back to the Czechs and Poles who actually have to live in the shadow of the Russian bullies. But then the Nobel isn't really about peace, just about appearances.
Remember when a certain U.S. President named Iraq, Iran and North Korea as being part of a [mythological] Axis of Evil, and then invaded Iraq, unquestionably ending any WMD programs Saddam was toying with? Well, meanwhile Iran and North Korea continued to build nuclear weapons programs because the rest of the world wouldn't back their "diplomacy" with strength.
With Obama's emphasis on negotiation over saber-rattling, Iran has now agreed to permit inspections which will do nothing to deter the program. But it looks good in the headlines. North Korea has agreed to return to the negotiating table, a ploy to gain more time to develop weapons while looking good in the headlines. As long as it looks good, that's enough for the Nobel Committee.
One of the areas now included in the Peace Prize is fighting climate change. Obama (or Pelosi, really) included a tiny percentage of the funds in the pork package for developing token renewable energy sources that will have negligible effect on the climate. It's a very small change from the "you guys have got to be kidding me" reality check that the last administration gave to all the climate wackos, but as long as lip service is paid to their holy cause, that's good enough for the Nobel Committee.
And there's the redeployment of troops out of Iraq (which is possible because the surge worked even better than the Repubs had hoped). But the Committee can ignore the positive results of waging war against terrorists and pretend that the Iraqis stabilized their country by inhaling the fumes of Obama's campaign speeches.
There's the returning of the role of world cop to the capricious whims of the U.N., rather than in the capricious whims of a single Texan. They like that better, even though the results will probably be worse over then next decade.
Reining in the bull-in-the-china-shop ass-kicking of criminal dictators of the world's largest military power and replacing its saber-rattling with dipomatic offers to fellate those dictators obviously counted for something.[/Q]
Fixed.(\__/) Save a bunny, eat more Smurf!

I'm finding it difficult to believe that you voted for either Gore or Kerry.
