Asher - I understand the point of your outrage and I'd be the last person to defend the Star (as you know) but I really doubt this one paper getting the charge wrong was the reason for the suicide. My guess? The charge being reported widely combined with anticipated testimony at trial is what drove this guy over the edge. I heard an interview with another attendee at the camp this morning. Sounds like the guy was a creep.

Unfortunately we will never have a trial to finally learn the actual facts.

I never said that. I included it in this thread for context -- they've already wronged the guy with a presumably honest mistake, but then to say what they said after he killed himself was just disgusting.

My beef wasn't necessarily with the bad initial reporting (to be expected with The Star), but with the publication of the column after the death.

That wouldn't surprise me (honestly, every Christian camp counselor creeps me the **** out). I there an online version of this, though?

I know for a fact both are sadistic lesbians who use double-ended spiked dildos to ravage eachother before they write their columns.

            Fair enough.

Have you any idea how disturbing an image that is for a straight guy?

For a straight guy? It's even worse for a gay guy. Naked women

                  Sorry, no link.

It was on CFRB 1010 this morning. Unfortunately the station is undergoing an on-air overhaul and it appears their website is as well. If I see or hear it elsewhere I will link it.

There's no indication of his guilt. But the position he had, he definitely lost it forever when the "news" were published. Also, it doesn't matter if he did it or not, a person could easily, in his position, be very desperate. What does his relatives and friends and everyone now think? Even if it's not true, his reputation is gone and I bet these people accused get like nightly calls from other creeps makign threats and wackos who want a "pay back".

So his career was down the toilet anyway the second the first one was published. Invitation to sexual touching, I don't know what that means. It could be anything, and most of all, it could be still false. If someone reported, that OK ASHER RAPES LITTLE BOYS IT'S TRUE HE INVITES THEM AND RAPES THEM THIS IS FACTS, on a big paper? Does it matter if it's true or not? They could run a new story that Whoops! we are sorry, but there will be still tons of people who don't read that new story, or just refuse to believe it.

It doesn't matter, this is enough to call the attention of law enforcement anyway, who will investigate. Now, if you are not guilty, good. But you have been still a suspect of what ever sex crime. That's enough. Your career is in the toilet.

SO, when a douche then writes a story that says 'ha-ha-haa, I WAS RIIIGHT because he killed himself lol, let's not forget he invited people to sexual touching!', you know... that's just sad. Why is he taking this to a public level as a "journalist"? THis dude has some serious ego problems, this seems like inner coping gone wrong.

Do you ever spend a second to consider what the alleged victims think?

They reported based upon a police report. This happens daily and is not unique to this case.

The investigation came before the newspaper report. You have it backwards.

Why would he jump in front of a train if he was not guilty?

And if you want to protect the dead from libel, do you also favor giving them all the rights of citizenry as well? In logic we call this the double action problem. Where do you draw the line? At voting?

Uh, the fact that his life is completely destroyed for something that he didn't do? I totally understand why he wanted to kill himself.

You're life isn't destroyed if you're accused of crimes. I've been indicted between five and six times and things are going great. As far as I can tell that's all that happened to this guy. No big deal..unless you actually did it, which he did.

Assuming your premise (he's innocent) is correct...

He'd rather die than be exonerated at trial?
