    That's like Chinese, but the other way round. All literate Chinese understand written Chinese, but spoken Chinese is more like serveral completely different languages.
    Another example is Serbian/Croatian.

    • As-Salamu Alaykum is not a reference to god is just means "peace to you". It is a Islamic religious greeting though.
      We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

      • That's kind of splitting hairs. A religious greeting implicitly refers to God, even if it isn't explicit.

              Perhaps so, but it's not explicit so I'm not sure why a follower of Islam would refrain from saying it to a Hindu. I think it may be more of a custom that has developed in Pakistan/India to reduce religious tension rather than something more dogmatic.
