Most of immigrants from slavic countries settled in USA after the secession war (I know it didn't change everything), and they were living in the north mostly anyway. And they were subject to discrimination in USA as well.

And even if they weren't, it's racist to hold entire race responsible for crimes done by members of this race towards members of another.

It doesn't matter that they arrived after the Civil War. Jim Crow lasted until the 1960s and discrimination continues even today. White immigrants to America could assimilate much more easily. This allowed them access to same benefits as decedents of "native" whites. It's not that specific white people benefited from racism, but white people as a group. So, once you were included in the group of white people, you benefited from the oppression of others.

Of course, Slavs weren't instantly embraced as white (nor were Mediterraneans nor the Irish), but eventually they were assimilated to the dominant culture.

Or slavery caused the South's dependence on cotton agriculture to the point of retarding its industrial development, a net detriment for whites. Unless you really think the white north's industrialization couldn't have happened without southern cotton profits, even though those typically stayed in the south.

The retardation of industrial development in the South is pretty irrelevant, since the major source of domestic capital for the U.S. was Southern cotton sold abroad. Southerns sold cotton and put the money in banks. Banks loaned the money to Northern industrialists. Whole country benefits.
