With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The funny thing is, I'm an atheist, but I don't want to jinx anything, so I'm not gonna talk about why I want this job until I know whether it's mine or not.

It's not like, "oh I said the wrong prayer and I didn't get the job." That's not how prayer works. Prayer is just a way of talking with God. He would pray to God saying something like, I really need the job, help me get it. That's it.
