      Go green & yellow!

Edit: oh I see the labels. I thought parties with the green color were generally... Green parties. I thought also that liberal parties generally used the color yellow. So you say the yellow party here is the Christian party? And the ones colored green are liberal/centrist?

Why are they bucking the color conventions of other Euro-countries?

It is confusing one of the handful of Americans who can find Norwegistan on a map.

An excellent question, which one can only ask from the graph source

I know the colour codes you're talking about, and using those semi-standard codes, Progress and Liberals should be in yellow and christian democrats in light blue.

I thought parties with the green color were generally... Green parties.
In Scandinavia, we have these things called "center" parties which are really pro-agriculture/rural parties of the 1920s-1950s which have tried to carry on their message of constantly increasing demands for agricultural subsidies to constantly decreasing amount of voters by selling themselves as "moderate" stablizers of partisan politics. In other words, anything goes as long as they get to move pork to their home districts, and more importantly, get themselves elected to parliament to continue their uninspiring career of pro politics with hefty salary & benefits.

Traditional colour for rural parties was green. When pro-environment parties sprung up in the 1980s, green parties were displayed with light green while "centrist" parties changed to dark green.

Go with the Shamrocks Ozzy. If Rah is correct they will have the best parties.

Seems to be slightly more polarised if I've understood VJ. Blue people and Red people up, yellows and greens in the centre down.
Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

fun fact: Progress Party started up as a single-issue protest party, they had 2 representatives out of 165 in as late as 1989

ps: Re-read the discussion. Never really said what I think the different parties represent, because it doesn't matter.

I'll stick with the V. Go V party!

                  What are their issues?

They should import the Swedish Pirate Party and let them form a government.

you mean we shouldn't give social benefits to people who praise our death in their state-subsidized minarets? there should be tests for people who want to become citizens before they'd get on welfare?

hurr durr you oppose people! you oppose immigrants!

you be ANTI IMMIGRANT NATIVIST XENOPHOBIST RACIST!

In other words, I don't know what the main issues of this election on Norwegian media were, that's why I made this thread. Thought Nikolai would still be around. Oh well. I do know that Venstre challenged Progress Party pre-election, stressing that there'd be no need for stricter immigration control (they threatened to form a coalition with Labour party after election), for that is the only thing Helsinki's daily newspaper noted in it's election coverage. It also predicted that conservatives would catch up with progress party again in popular support, which is why I'd like some information from Norwegian people I can trust.

That means my fellow polytubbies, of course

                      edit: V-party is Venstre, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venstre_%28Norway%29
