Bots aren't counted in that number I don't think. It's not accurate in any case, as it's over the last few minutes (I'm not exactly sure how many). The number doesn't include people on the wiki, which is ranking well for Civilization: Beyond Earth terms and getting decent traffic already.

Generally there are from 20 to 30 people on the site at any one time according to (the much more accurate) Google Analytics.

Most of the visitors are Google searches. We get from 2k to 4k visitors directly from Google searches each day. That's not including image search. The babe thread gets a lot of hits in Google image search ... but no one actually comes to the site from image search, they just see the images on Google.

We actually rank pretty well for many Civ 5 terms, we just don't have anything that inspires people to stick around. We also have some very weird terms that bring in traffic ... surprisingly though, the vast majority of it is actually civilization/4x/game related.
