How many sexual partners have you had

I've been sexually active since I was 21 and in those ten years of sexual activity, I've had **** buddies whom I would hook up with more than once, and then there are people I dated whom I had developed feelings for, and then there are people whom I just hooked up with once. I guess I will include all three of these types when I vote in JM's poll.

If a hypothetical person were to attend an orgy would they count

1. every person present?
2. every person they touched in a sexual way? (oh and here does an inadvertant touching of the "other" gender count?
3. Only those people with whom you had intercourse? Oral sex must count right ??

After all we all know that talking about correct data gathering is the key to this thread

Im 50 and have had a wonderful fullfilling life.

I have been married happily for 24 years, so leave 26 years for my +30 partners.

As a young miscreant, a bouncer in clubs, for 8 years plus living with outlaw bikers as a young and up and coming young strapping dude, its not that unreasonable to get 30 partners from age 14.5 to say 26, less than 3 partners/encounters a year

Speaking statistically, It really only takes a couple of "slutty" years to easily achieve 30 +. I mean -- one partner a month and you quickly get to 24-- Give a guy say 5 years of being single in college and the number goes to 6 partners a year-- Again, nothing strange for a guy that is dating

I think it is true that people aren't having as many partners as some people would guess.

The numbers reported in this 2007? study are about the same as the numbers I saw at a Nobel conference in 2000. There they also reported numbers for homosexuals and divided homosexual and heterosexual partners. They don't remember them dividing by sex. The focus was on this one 'risk taking' gene which was associated with more partners of both sexes, for both heterosexuals and homosexuals in the study. In that study, the median number of opposite partners was a bit higher, 8, and the median number of same sex partners was about 1. This, once more, was for the heterosexuals.

Homosexuals are going to have more just because society hasn't socially supported them in finding long lasting monogamous relationships.

I know of only 1-2 physicists (who aren't swinger types) who would be much above. Even the one who had had a lot of women before graduate school, had settled down by the second year or so.
