In addition to the fact that visceral [emotional reaction] is an obviously correct usage, Google turns up 76 instances of the precise phrase "viscerally offends" and 65 instances of "viscerally offend", and a quick scan of the results indicates that they all used it to convey the precise meaning I was aiming for

Kuci, you aren't KH. Not yet anyway. Don't get on too high a horse with reasonable folk. Unless you'd like to end up on everyone's ignore list. How many times a phrase or word combination appears on Google is not proof of its proper use in this context. You should defend your use of the phrase without attacking the person asking the question. What did the word viscerally add to the offence you took at that person's existance? I can't think of a time when you've indicated you were offended that you didn't feel emotional about that. How was this instance any different?

"Visceral" adds understanding of how strong the feeling was. It brings up connotations of a physical reaction to St Jon's ridiculous, over-the-top speechifying. While I didn't quite feel that strongly, I have to admit that I literally rolled my eyes as I scanned that post.
