This is patently false. There are numerous counterexamples.

Spanish-American war.

Then there's the Spanish American War, the Philippine War, the undeclared war against France, the Barbary wars, . . .

We've won a lot of wars without you.

If Britain had fallen, the Allies still would have won WWII. It just would have taken longer.

a) Would the Allies still have been Allied in that case?
b) I think the Soviet Union came a lot closer to cracking in the first year than you think.

Could have used North Africa after Torch. Probably no comparison in infrastucture (airbases, ports, depots etc) to Britain, but I'd assume doable with some effort. After all in the Pacific it wasn't better in that regard.

Italy and France, that's amusing we take French North Africa.

I suppose if the Brit's surrendered the Navy, the Nazis could have won the war. Without control of the Atlantic, the U.S. ain't invading anyone.

Maybe the USSR could have been taken out, if the Caucasus fell, cutting off the Soviets oil, but the Nazis had really reached their limits, and the Soviets could fall back to the Urals. In the first year, Leningrad and Moscow could have fallen, but that wouldn't have stopped the USSR. I don't see the fall of Britain hurting the Soviets in any major way.

b) If Britain had fallen during 1940-41 there would not have been a base for the Allies in North Africa. And Gibraltar would have fallen as well. The Med would NOT have been a reasonable route.
