No, but I think you could easily do a lot more. Instead of saying, "oh well, I'm a sinner no matter what" you could sell your possessions and donate the money to kids who have leukemia. With your current attitude why even bother advocating universal health care.

I never said, "oh well, I'm a sinner." I'm saying that I'm a sinner. You're asking me to be perfect.

No, I don't think you could ever be perfect. I'm just showing you how you could do a better job of living up to your values. You should thank me.
Unless you think it's okay to settle. In which case, why shouldn't America be satisfied with health care for the rich? Sounds like you're asking America to be perfect.
Your position that people need to suffer so that the deficit doesn't increase is wrong to me. Your position that even more people need to suffer so that the budget will be balanced is quite extreme to me. Where does your desire for suffering stop? Do you want even more people to suffer so that the debt is paid off?
There ya go. I'm too lazy to work out how to quote both your posts properly. Also, there seem to be no reasonable arguments in them. You're turning into some kind of liberal BK. I like how we shouldn't make cuts which cause suffering, but raise taxes instead. Nobody ever suffered from high taxes, and I'm told those make great sense just as we're emerging from a depression or recession or whatever we call it now.
I didn't mean to acuse you of desiring suffering like a psychopath. That's what I thought you were getting at that I think you're a psychopath. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt that you wish for less suffering. I just think you're a bit fanatical about this debt thing, and also you don't know much about it.

Are you kidding with the suffering from higher taxes? This is ridiculous. Also, the Bush tax cuts have not worked to stimulate the economy so why not re-impose the taxes?
It does seem that you don't consider the needy in your political beliefs if you think raising taxes will cause suffering.

"If one of your countrymen becomes poor and sells some of his property, his nearest relative is to come and redeem what his countryman has sold. . . . If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so he can continue to live among you. . . . If one of your countrymen becomes poor among you and sells himself to you, do not make him work as a slave." Leviticus 25:25, 35, 39
"He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing." Deuteronomy 10:18

Deuteronomy 14:28-29
"If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother." Deuteronomy 15:7
"Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought: The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near, so that you do not show ill will toward your needy brother and give him nothing. He may then appeal to the LORD against you, and you will be found guilty of sin." Deuteronomy 15:9

Leave it for the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. "If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered." Proverbs 21:13
Why should I thank you when you have bad intentions? I don't listen to nonbelievers tell me how to be a Christian. Have you even read the Bible?
I'm not telling you how to be a Christian. I'm taking what you've said, that it's a sin to value a material object over life, and pointing out an implication.
Now, one of the following must be true:
1. a person must do the right thing as much as possible
2. a person does not have to do the right thing as much as possible
One of these is A and the other is not A. If one is false, that makes the other true.
If the first is true, and if it's a sin to value a material object over life, why aren't you auctioning off your possesions and donating the proceeds to sick children? And if the second is true, why does the right thing even matter?

How do you know what I have and haven't done? You're being incredibly stupid.
I can tell you that the right thing matters to a Christian because it pleases God.

So you have sold your possessions and donated the money to the sick? Good. Now you can tell others to not value material possessions without being a hypocrite.
Kid, you're just not seeing the big picture here. Even if we grant that this reform will actually work (which I don't), it is simply not practical because it cannot be paid for with real money. That's all there is to it. I don't know exactly what will happen when/if we default on our debts, and I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY don't want to find out. It's that freaking bad. And just axing the GWB tax cuts will barely begin to recover the balance.
We're not going to see eye-to-eye here, so I say we agree to disagree.
