I imagine your malpractice insurance premiums would go down though.
The last thing we need is doctors making more money.

Yeah. Heaven forfend I end up paying my student loans before retirement age.

All I'm saying is that if conservatives were serious about saving money on health care, they'd expend as much energy on insurance reform, preventative care, and universal coverage as they do on tort reform. Bang for the buck, people. Isn't that what you were harping about before, DD?

Well, I also agree with making medical education significantly cheaper as well.

        • Now that's something we can agree on.

          • The best way to make education cheaper is to dismantle the dept. of education and probably end public education K-12. Transition for the universities would take a bit longer.

            Privatize it.

            • Privatization of education, eh not a good plan. I like smaller government but honestly there needs to be education for those who can't pay. It makes lots of sense to subsidize education, it is essentially investing in our workforce. I don't agree with subsidizing healthcare, but education generates wealth.

I don't think anyone has suggested that tort reform as a cure all but rather as part of a larger plan. My prefered solution would involve that along with ending the tax ememption for employer provided health plans. I'd also like to end Medicare & Medicaid and replacing them with catastrophic medical insurance coverage. But that last one would likely involve killing off Boomers to get it done.

Just like McDonald's and Walmart exist, private education for poor people will exist. Stop with that lame strawman.

That plan would kill a lot more than the boomers.

Actually, mentioning McDonalds and Walmart in this context would be a more accurate description of a strawman.

Yes, lots of people are going to die due to compulsory catastrophic health insurance that pays for all medical expenses over a certain income threshold.

                        • It's possible to subsidize education for some of the population without the Dept. They can go to the Walmart of schools (which will be better than current publc education) on subsidy.
