I actually would be willing to marry someone who I wasn't in love with... I think that romantic love isn't a necessity to make for a successful marriage. And I generally don't have a problem with loving people.

The best part is that I mean everything I said here. The only real trollish part was my use of "cowardice" rather than a less inflammatory term (the strongest I would go normally would be "moral cowardice").

Honestly, I do think that some of you need to rethink exactly what privacy means and what your moral obligations are to people you haven't ever met. For better or worse there are a lot of pseudoanonymous people on the internet admitting to behaviour which, if you witnessed it personally, you would be likely (or at least more likely) to intervene against.

Anonymity is not a moral shield. We are not priests or psychotherapists. Words here are spoken in the light of day, and should have the same impact as words spoken in person.

a) Claiming that homosexuality is wrong (specifically, a wrong which should be remedied by informing Asher's employer?) is what fails in this example. Ben may be acting morally in his own mind. I'm sure that (to Godwinize) Hitler was as well. Morality is a universal quality, and in order to decide the rightness or wrongness of Ben's actions we have to judge his moral constructs, not merely whether he acts according to them. Thus your analogy (which is all it is) is not a counterexample in any meaningful sense of the word
