Ignore list functionality

I'm thinking a better solution would be to stealth ban people who anger me.

They can still post on this site...and to them it looks like they're posting. But no one else would see their posts.

God, how hard is it just to skip over posts from people that you don't want to read? That requires no maint.
No self discipline at all.

I don't think I'll change-- I don't pay attention enough to recall which of you is a right wing nutjob , or a commie nutjob or whatever so if the topic interests me I am usually willing to hear what everyone has to say

I don't understand why you would ever have un-ignored him in the first place.

Ben posts a lot in the hockey threads. Since so few people do, its more interesting to address Ben's frequently crazy comments there than it is to watch thetumbleweeds blow through.

I actually don't mind how crazy some of the comments are. I like reading and talking hockey and if a Ben-Asher discussion causes me to consider the merits of a couple of players, so be it.

I believe that hockey is the main reason Asher takes Ben off ignore, even though it is the cause of much of Asher's frustration. Asher?

I like to put people on my ignore list and then pull them off after a few months to check if there's been any improvement in their posts. However, I'm finding it a hassle to manage my ignore list. I tend to forget when I put certain people on it, and making a note of each addition seems to be too much like work. Therefore, I'd like to request a feature that allows me to enter an ignore period (in days, say) each time I add somebody. At the end of that period, the person would automatically be removed from my ignore list and I would be able to read their posts again.

Pros? Cons?

I found the "poster is on ignore" notice to be far more obnoxious than anything the person being ignored might post. So I ignore the Ignore feature.
