Well, she's never getting the Republican nod. Not that it's worth anything. With any luck, she'll appoint herself spokesman for the party for the next few years.
This is pretty inexplicable. Major ethics charges, I'm guessing.

Anyone think it's possible she's planning to run against Murkowski in the 2010 Senate primary? There's no love lost between her and the Murkowski family, and it'd be a good way to build up some Washington street cred for 2012 or 2016. I don't think she'd actually get the nom in any event, but assuming she thinks she could, former-governor-turned-junior-senator could appear a better springboard than still-governor.
Absolutely not. Her term is up in 2010 anyways. She could easily run for the Senate without resigning. And Murkowski/the Dem would get a ton of mileage out of the fact that she pointlessly quit her last job.

Even Senate runs take a great deal of preparation and fundraising that could conceivably get in the way of gubernatorial duties, even to the point of being a point of opponents' criticism. But I do agree that starting 11 months ahead of the primary and 5 months ahead of the filing deadline would be pretty ridiculous.

I didn't know you were a member of the Republican party.

Yeah, just like Obama did, eh?
How many votes did he actually attend?

Admit it, your just trying to get Ramo foaming at the mouth.

Did An Embezzlement Scandal Force Sarah Palin To Resign?
Many political observers in Alaska are fixated on rumors that federal investigators have been seizing paperwork from SBS in recent months, searching for evidence that Palin and her husband Todd steered lucrative contracts to the well-connected company in exchange for gifts like the construction of their home on pristine Lake Lucille in 2002. The home was built just two months before Palin began campaigning for governor, a job which would have provided her enhanced power to grant building contracts in the wide-open state.
NBC’s Andrea Mitchell is reporting that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is out of politics, permanently:
“She has told some of her biggest backers in the national Republican Party that they are free to choose other candidates for 2012.”
See the video here, via Time magazine’s political blog, The Page.

No. Quitting a job is by definition not pointless if you get a much better job offer.

No, I'm a relatively informed political observer. Palin is not getting the nomination. In all likelyhood, Romney is.
Weren't you banking on Brownback last go?

I can't think of a single precedent for that. Presidential candidate is far more plausible than Senatorial, though fundraising circuit might be, at this point, more plausible than either one.
