While they may have hated to do what they did....the did do this
The only exception to this, is that court has ruled that 18,000 gay and lesbian couples who had married before Prop. 8 will retain their legal marriage status.
I think that's quite a powerful statement and it bodes well for the future.

silly point, but the day is not far in the future when gay civil unions will be the norm. Time will pass your bigoted view of life by. But yes you can keep living in your happy past where women were treated as second class citiznes or property.

I wasn't ignorant of the case that was actually brought forward on question of amendment versus revision. My anger is that they completely dodged the question of whether or not Proposition 8 violates equal rights protection.
Then I guess the problem isn't with the court but the fact that the activists brought the wrong case.

He figures if he concentrates on treason, he may convince someone that gay civil unions are bad

Wow, **** you. Those 9,000 couples just wanted equal rights.

They did not secede. They did not enslave.

Then again, I'm not surprised you're gleeful now that you think you have some right to your bigotry.

That's nice... but there wasn't. It wasn't argued before the court.

States rights, unlike gay marriage is found in the constitution. You might want to read up on Clay's arguments well before the Civil War.

No ****! But, obviously, the California Supreme Court wasn't going to basically toss out the entire initiative process as a result.

So gay men aren't allowed to vote? Do they have gaydar down at your polling stations or something?

Wow, I can totally see how demanding special rights for gays is the same as denying them the right to vote.

I never said they aren't allowed to vote so you're just trying to change the arguement AGAIN.

Of course it has, if the job is accurately reporting the news. "Court interprets constitutional change provision according to text and precedent" is both more difficult to convey and less sexy and attention-grabbing than "Court says no to gay marriage."
