So does Quebec have fewer people entering into stable relationships? Of either sort?

I probably will at some point. Based on your family, I would say yes.

As KH said, politician's private lives are much less scrutinized in Quebec than in the US (for example). I believe this is also the case in most of Europe.

For example, I read news very frequently, yet I've rarely heard of our federal or provincial PMs' families and maybe seen pictures of their wives twice (in 2-3 years), while I've seen dozens of pictures of Obama's wife, and could easily read a bunch of her interviews. Here, no-one would ever think of interviewing the PM's wife's.

This doesn't really answer your question, but the point is that, since we don't hear about it, they don't really have to pander too much.

I have no idea how many are currently cohabiting. At a guess, 10-12. One of the married couples cohabited for 10 years (and had a child) before getting married 3-4 years ago. The one that just recently got married cohabited for 4 years before getting married. I did not cohabit (well, not for longer than a month, anyway), but that was due entirely to the fact that we were in two different cities until right before we got married. If we'd been in the same city we would probably have cohabited for 2-3 years before marriage.
Interesting. I don't see the same out this way, and believe me my family is very liberal. Most of my family either gets married, or cohabits. The ones who are married didn't live together first, while the ones who live together are not married. Seems to be more personality then anything. One family will have a younger daughter married, and the older one cohabiting.

In legal trials, there is often an immunity between spouses. So your wife cannot be compelled to testify against you. Handy to know if you intend to go on a murdering spree and need somebody on hand to hold your weapons.

unless you piss her off, then she will testify against you.

most likely she will and then sell her story for money.

Also, tort law provides for spousal immunity.

Kitschum said it right, when she gains weight the marriage sinks for the man. My wife has gained way too much weight since we married.

I have been married almost 2 years, we got married and pregnant around the same time. Ironically I was going to propose on this one day, it just so happened that that same day she got the results from her secret pregnancy test. Fun day, I think I smoked a pack and a half and downed a 12er of Bud in like an hour.

Now I have my son, greatest thing ever to happen to me. We have been close to divorce a couple times from fighting. Stupid crap really. And I did think about what I would do if I was single again, while I was away from them for 4 months for work it was like I was single. I was clubbin, drinkin, other stuffin. I was having fun with hot little foreign girls from all over the world in these clubs, great fun. Would I remarry? Yea eventually, after a long long drawn out, better thought out relationship. Being married right now? Lets just say some days I would rather be at my desk working than at home. Thankfully I live around the corner from a good par 4 18 hole course....always a good day.

Dude, our quality of life index is higher than the UK and South Korea. Just because we weren't a independent country untill 20 years ago dosen't mean we are a backward sh1thole. In fact I'm willing to bet Slovenia is probably a better place to live than at least a few US states.

And yes we do have problems with illegal immigration (thoug most of them eventually make their way to Italy and Germany- since there being no borders whithin the EU and all)
