There's a few gays there too, but they're hidden under Abe Lincoln slash-fic.
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "

One of my favorite jokes. What's the best thing to come out of Iowa.

Certainly not in the manner the film portrays.

Where's Oerdin when you need him?

          Iowa is next to Illinois.

Here's some info about Iowa's geology.

If there's anything to complain about here, it's not that there's a quarry in Iowa, since the state certainly has the resources. It's that the Enterprise was originally built in San Francisco, not Iowa. That's what is inconsistent about the new movie and the old series.

With this movie the writers basically said to the lifelong fans of the original series: "You don't count because you'll be dead soon."

According to the History Channel, we are all going to die in 2012 anyways.

and Kirk was supposed to have been born in Iowa according to ST4

at this point canon is irrelevant anyways. And they should throw out alot of it. I'm glad they didn't go back to the old push buttons and mechanical meters of TOS . They kept some of the sound effects which was cool, but at least they didn't keep the visual stuff.

This thread is not making me want to watch Star Trek very much.

                        Dude, see it. It's good.

Just don't do with any this ****ing mythology in your head. It's a ripping-good summer action movie, with a couple terrific performances.

Exactly, turn off your brain and enjoy the flashy explosions and **** me boots. If you go into it expecting nothing but a fun mindless action film it will not disappoint.

My brother saw it with his girlfriend, and my brother hates Star Trek and the girlfriend is indifferent. They both quite liked it.

It's had its intended effect of rebooting and revitalizing the franchise.
