I had the same problem. The stock Core2 heatsink is a POS.

So, behind the motherboard there was a piece of plastic that extended the screwhole (actually, I think it's the only part that was grooved in the first place). I didn't find it until I'd disassembled the computer and removed the motherboard.

It's kind of hard the second way.
System is fixed now and seems to be working fine, thank god.
