Asher, come on. I don't need definitions. Help Ben out. Y'all can go back to your flame war afterwards.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

It's a huge memory / CPU hog.
It's unstable.
It's ugly.
It's buggy.
It has an atrocious UI that buries features and people don't know they exist. But it doesn't matter because if they use them, it doesn't work.

2. I dislike the fact that it has no analogue to OneNote.
3. I dislike the fact that it's ****ing slow.
4. I dislike the fact that it eats up memory.
5. I dislike the fact that it takes forever to compile, if you don't want to use the binary; if you want to use the binary, it ****s with prelinking settings.
6. I dislike the fact that it's actually one massive application, not several separate ones.
7. Draw is absolutely terrible compared to Visio, so much so that you're better off using Dia.
8. Access is ****, and so they decided they had to make one even worse than it, called Base.
9. Impress is really ****ing glitchy.B♭3

Obviously I don't use Excel to do any real number-crunching. But aren't the two more complementary than replacements for each other?
And because I spend a lot of time with ROOT, it is actually easier for me to do all that stuff in ROOT rather then Excel. Especially if I want to do something that looks good and/or is correct.
The one area I use excel and like it is to provide a simple database. For a good database I use mysql (or a bad database (I didn't program it) just a text file).

Okay, I'll admit that I use OpenOffice because of its freeness.

Oh, and the excel database isn't for doing software stuff on. Rather, it is for visually looking up stuff about runs/etc.
For software we use MySQL or txt files.
Oh, and ROOT is currently better for me for even small sets of data often because I am so much better at using it.

Whoa, 103 posts.
Sorry for buggering off but had a family emergency crop up.
Apparently it's a bug with 3.0 which has been fixed in the latest release. A reversion from 2.42, which did not have this bug.
Apparently I could have restored the earlier version had I not closed out the program after I ran the retrevial.
