Also it claims 500 people were at the San Diego event but I drove by Midway yesterday at lunch to drop off my passport renewal form and there was no where near 500 people at what was supposed to be the height of the event. There was maybe 100 if that.

Oerdin, it was an all day event. In other words you anecdotal observantion from a few seconds long drive by are irrelevant in estimated how many people attended.

I'll have to look up that video of nutty tea baggers saying books need to be burned, that HD TV converter boxes are secret government brain washing units, and that parents shouldn't ever let their kids go to college because those are socialist brainwashing camps. We're talking some real nutters here.

In any case, the important part about that video Oeridn is that another protester immediately takes her to task, something that does not happen at lefty protests and we all know how retarded crazy some of those kooks are (who also hijack lefty protests).

One thing I didn't see at the demonstration, anyone who wasn't white. Most of them were dressed quite well, and a lot of them had that smug, self-satisfied look that frat boys have.

The right wing tea bagging movement has pretty much been an epic fail despite the hundreds of millions GOP big whigs dumped into it and the tens of thousands of hours of free air time over four months that Fox Noise used to promote this rather gayly named "movement". What's next for the GOP and the fringe groups who still follow it? Clearly this hasn't gotten any traction.

The word "fail" implies that they had a specific goal to be accomplished, and didn't accomplish it. What was the supposed goal aside from gathering some fleeting attention to their cause on major news outlets, which even a paltry 25,650 people could and did accomplish?

Taxes which just got lowered for 95% of Americans and I'm not going to cry just because the top 5% had their tax rate go from 36% to 39%. Especially since Reagan had a top tax rate of 50% from 1980-1984 and 39.6% from 1985. Obama's tax rates are lower then Reagan's yet the tea baggers claim their man god Reagan was a low tax guy and that Obama is an evil socialist soaking the rich. It's completely illogical not to mention devoid of actual facts.

Maybe if the top tax rate was 92.5% like the Republican Eisenhower had them at then they might have a point but when taxes are at their lowest level ever for 95% of the population and their second lowest level ever even for the top 5% then it is clear these people are just idiots who don't know what they're talking about.

One would think the GOP would be smart enough to wait for the actual raising of taxes to protest high tax rates. So impatient!

Well in fairness, I think both sides of the aisle recognize that the skyrocketing spending under both the Bush and Obama administrations has been and will continue to be financed by hundreds of billions more of debt, which we'll eventually have to pay down some day with some increased taxes even if there's enough economic recovery to increase overall revenue, which is a big if to begin with. Every spending increase financed by debt could be called an "implicit tax" since keeping up with interest payments necessitates future taxation.

(Not that most of the people out there yesterday would explain it that way if asked, however.)
