Adults under 30 are essentially evenly divided: 37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism, and 30% are undecided. Thirty-somethings are a bit more supportive of the free-enterprise approach with 49% for capitalism and 26% for socialism. Adults over 40 strongly favor capitalism, and just 13% of those older Americans believe socialism is better.

Expected. The younger you are the less assests you probably have to protect, so the more you're willing to put it into a pool where they can get more back. As you get older you're more likely to have more assests than average and not willing to pool it since you will get less back. Very simplified but more than likely true.

I'd bet that the pro-socialism number was much lower two years ago. Conservatives might have a decent chance at rehabilitating the word altogether if they keep calling Obama a socialist for the next eight years.

For now, "progressive" is the generally accepted nomenclature for the American left and center-left (who've more or less abandoned "liberal").
