Most of the stuff I'd throw out wouldn't qualify for GoodWill... old kitchen appliances that are excessively dirty, cloths with holes, etc.

He's already gotten legit 3 offers to buy, plus one offer to trade him a pair of tennis shoes and another offer to kick him in the nuts.
He should go with the kick in the nuts. You're feeling me, dawg!

Don't throw it out. Give it to the Good Will.

Except this will not be helpful in avoiding a prolonged recession.

                Good luck Zkribbler!

                It's a big move.

I don't have much stuff, but it's amazing what accumulates over time.

have fun. But out of curiosity , err how do you afford to live over there? Do you have lots of money saved up? Are you retiring?

You must have missed my retirement house thread: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?t=184254

                        Three ways:
                        (1) Yes, I am retiring
                        (2) It's very inexpensive to live in the Philippines.
                        (3) Since my twenties, I've been saving my money. I have a couple of IRAs, a whole-life life insurance policy which I can morph into an annunity, and I have dough squirrelled away in the bank.

Remember: The only money you'll have as an old man is the money you send down the road when you're a young man.

You know, I have nothing but respect for people who decide to retire and leave the country within the first few months of the Obama Presidency.

I have no idea how much money it would take to actually retire. I maybe have $30,000. But the ira's I can't touch till later. The house is unsellable, so that won't help. somehow I doubt $30,000 would last more than a few years. even over there.

And frankly, I don't know what I'd do retired. I have to work, it's the only thing that validates my existence. I always said if I won the big jackpot here (over 32 million now) I'd continue working. I have nothing better to do. Playing games all day is not healthy I found out.

Maybe if he'd be trying to institute a single-payor healthcare system like the rest of the industrialized world has, I'd stay. But he likes this health-insurance way of doing things, which is the world's most expensive and least effective way of providing healthcare.

Oh yeah, and tropical beaches. I demand tropical beaches!
