I found "A scanner darkly" very sad. It was clearly the ravings of a desperately sick man.

    Two other good ones here-

"Perfume: The story of a murderer"

    "Brotherhood of the wolf"
The genesis of the "evil Finn" concept- Evil, evil Finland

Of all those movies, Jrabbit, the only one I have seen is A Beautiful Mind. I saw about five minutes of Forgetting Sarah Marshall... it wasn't pleasant.

"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is mindless pap, but I love Russell Brand, and the closing scene of Jason Segal's puppet-musical is great. Many have informed me that this movie actually sucks, but I've found myself watching it when it pops up on a channel scan, so I guess I have a weakness for lowbrow guilty pleasures like this, Ocean's Eleven, and Wedding Crashers.

But at least I admit it.

I'm a huge Philip K. Dick fan. Didn't really like this treatment the first time I saw it, but subsequent viewings show a strong, cohesive artistic vision that is surprisingly true to the book's vibe.

Plus, really fun casting with Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, Keanu Reeves, and Winona Ryder (buncha druggies!).

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is ****ing hilarious, and I find it inexplicable that people don't enjoy it.

To be fair, I stopped watched five minutes in after this...

Great! A movie that five minutes in wants to shock you with PENIS! That has all the signs of a great movie! Was that necessary? Did someone think oh man we got to show his dick. It'll be hilarious!

Yeah, you gotta get past that and focus on the girls he dates -- Mila Kulis and Kristin Bell.

Kristen Bell has a couple freaky comedic sex scenes in the movie. Bonus.

Bel Ami just released a movie featuring something like 30 guys in a massive circle jerk. That's pretty epic, you have to admit.

I was waiting for somebody else to say it, but yes. What kind of weenie actually wants to spend two damned hours of his life thinking about race relations in America? It was like watching the media babble surrounding the Obama campaign, only people were apparently supposed to pay money to see it, and found it entertaining to boot. Baffling.

I remember that one. Unfortunately. Worst ****ty movie ever.

Brokeback Mountain was a good movie, I see that it was mentioned above. But it wasn't all up there. Dark Knight of course. The later Harry Potter movies is good entertainment too btw. I thought A Beautiful Mind was pre-2000, but it was a great movie.

The Cronenburg 'Crash' was in '96, and is a zillion times better than the 2000s version, despite not being that good.

Ones I've seen that I liked, that no on has mentioned yet:

Pursuit of Happyness - one of my all-time favourites
Pay it Forward (!) - also up there.

Hotel Rwanda - excellent movies, but not in my top 5.
The Passion of the Christ - same.

Ocean's 11 - seen it, loved it, watched it again, and it was even more fun.
Shaun of the Dead - same
Shrek 1 - Gingerbread man alone was worth the price of admission

                                Blood Diamond
                                Catch me if you Can
                                I Am Legend.
                                The Bucket List

                                LOTR, all three movies.
                                Children of Men
                                American History X
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
                                Memento
                                Crash
                                Pirates of the Caribbean 1
                                Lost in Translation
                                No country for old men

                                No one mentioned Napoleon Dynamite?!
