  • I'm no plumber but I'd say downstairs is better than up.

    Somewhere in this whole thing you'll need a cement water storage tank down below which can be built into the floor of the laundry and a pump to pump up to a high water tank. At our house in Pondol the floor tank is built into the outside kitchen and the pump is next to it. The high tank is right outside my bedroom window in the back, right behind my comp.

    We don't have this in Garcia yet. That's why water only comes out the lowest faucet that's on. If you're taking a shower and someone turns on the kitchen sink, your not taking a shower anymore.

    Sho knows a heck of alot about this stuff having looked after our system for so long, and installing much of it while we were away. So Sho overlooking a local plumber should get it done right.

    What Tito put in his estimate.

    • The reason I think the water heater would have to go on the ground floor and be gravity fed under that small pressure from the high water tank is that if the high tank ever drains for any reason there should still be undrained water at ground level that will keep your heater from burning. Water heaters tend to burn when they're without water and that means a new element as I'm sure you know.

      • There's a lot of room under the first-floor stairs and landing. I was thinking of using it for storage, but a watertank might fit in there. --What diminsions are we talking about?

        • I didn't measure the large tanks I wandered past. An easy solution might be on demand...? Did you like the shower one upstairs here? Otherwise I see a trip to Tag with a tape measure in my future, swami am I.

          Just say the word and pony up the dough.

          • The "on demand" are fine. And more ecological too.

            I wuz thinking that one big one might be cheaper than three little ones...but now, I doubt it.

                • You're still going to need a cement tank, water pump and high tank. There is no escape. However these can be put out in the laundry except for the high tank. I should post a pic of mine in Pondol. I'd have to bother the neighbor but maybe I can get one out the window that's right in front of me. I'll get one and then post it with the pics I take this afternoon.

                  • Here's the pic I took of my latest floorplan.
                    2 squares = 1 meter
                    The oceanside is up; the streetside is down;
                    the BBside is to the left; the streamside, to the right.

                    • That's his thing, the house. I'm really hoping that he can handle working with you on getting it done and putting in changes etc because between the two of you guys it got designed and its in your minds. It's been an age since I did stairs like that...

                      I am so glad that you've got balconies onto the ocean!

                      If the lengthening of the stairs causes you too much grief I'm pretty sure you can go to 5 meters or more without cutting any more trees. I took passing notice of that today and if you're interested can look into exactly how much you can get.
