  • Ben personally slandered me. I've got an excuse.

    • I am an important politician with aides, and I deal with idiots all day, and sometimes even have sex with them, but let's face facts, Asher is right, there comes a time when you just need to gag it as seen in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

I don't agree with much of what Ben says, but what you mean by "disagreeable" is often him sticking up for his own opinions in an environment where he holds a minority view (and one that is very difficult to defend), and the Apolyton gay mafia dogpile him for it. Given that fact, I'm surprised he isn't ruder in response.

If there's anything going on here, it seems that it's the inability of some people not to take criticism of homosexual behaviour personally. Ben is quite capable of taking criticism of religious behaviour without necessarily taking it personally, as I know from my own experience arguing with him.

After all, it's an internet gaming site, not the Supreme Court, so our political opinions don't really matter other than for personal amusement.
Eh, I put up with enough **** on here too from some of the people on here. I haven't created a thread though to complain about it.

I don't automatically like every single person I interact with in real life or online just because he/she is a fellow American citizen.

I agree - some of the things Slowwy says I think are "crazy" - but they sound perfectly reasonable to him, others. But there are other aspects of Slowwy's personality I've seen on here that I like.

You complain endlessly. Your oxymoronic account name is a constant source of mirth to members of the forum.

            • Forgive me, but isn't a two lane highway one that has two lanes in each direction?

Some of the bigger American ones have 4 lanes each way, and sometimes more. Aren't you guys talking past each other?

No. When he said two-lane he meant a single road with one lane each way. That is the way the Yellowhead (highway under discussion) still is in most of BC as it is going through a series of mountains and passes.

He started off by saying it is that way all the way. He posted an old, or incorrect, map showing that. He backed off when presented with a photograph and admitted it was 2 lanes each way and divided for a 10K or so stretch that he found on in a slightly less old, or incorrect, atlas. He then modified again with a still newer atlas, and then later admitted it was from one town to another.

He never backed off his original claim to have just travelled the highway and so knew that the highway was as he originally described it from personal experience. He lied blatantly, pointlessly, and without a hint of contrition when he had to be dragged through the piles of doo and have his nose thrust into them one by one.

I can't explain why a normal person would do something like that when confronted by someone in a position to drive a few minutes and take pictures of the topic under discussion. I gave him plenty of room to swerve. I called BS. Then I asked if he had photos. I have no explanation for why he persisted.

I do know I can't take anything he says at face value. I do know he is dishonest.

I posted the google map zoomed out which made a distinction between interstates, and the Yellowhead. They used different shades for each roads.

No, a different atlas all together. I am still not sure why it has the division in the correct place (W of Hinton), but doesn't show that grade continuing past hinton. It's really strange for me.

He never backed off his original claim to have just travelled the highway and so knew that the highway was as he originally described it from personal experience.
Yes, I had just taken a trip from PG to Edmonton last weekend. I hadn't see any twinning of the yellowhead, so I was rather puzzled when NYE says it was twinned. I didn't see any twinning, and my atlas didn't show any twinning, and google seemed to say that there wasn't any twinning.

You can imagine my puzzlement when I try to find information saying that there is twinning of the Yellowhead, only to find that it's non-existant. I ask NYE to post a map showing that, and he shows me the zoomed in pic from Google.

Finally I have a source that can be independently corroborated, and can show me exactly the length. I look through and then admit I was wrong about the road from Hinton to Edmonton, but that I was correct that the road is not up to interstate standards, which was my main point of conjecture.

There was nothing to confirm that the photo was of the yellowhead, and not some other road. I was bothered by the lack of maps and sources which seemed to be saying otherwise. I find it really irritating when something is assumed to be common knowledge, but no one has the actual information to prove exactly how far the road was twinned.

                  • So there was some retarded argument about a road in Canada that already killed one thread, and you guys brought it here?

Why do you need maps, Ben? I thought you just travelled it.

I did, which is why I know you are full of ****. I'm just trying to prove it.

You misunderstood. On my trip, it was only double lane from Hinton to Stoney Plain, because I only drove into Stoney Plain. For that matter, I only did both BC portions, PG to Jasper and Jasper to PG on the return trip. I slept the rest of the way.

This is why I was rather shocked at your statement challenging when I said all the way to Edmonton. As far as I had driven the Yellowhead it had been single lane, and until this trip, I'd never driven past Jasper or to Edmonton.

                      Tsk, tsk.

So certain, but now it turns out you were asleep. I wondered when you would trot that out.

But wait. You slept past Jasper, so how would you know I was full of **** when I said 'the entire length from Edmonton to somewhere short of the national park (Jasper) was completed over a long period of time, but it has been complete across the province for some years?'

                        Yup.

He still will not admit it even though completely busted.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing Asher's part in this. Heck, I'll admit that I'm probably far more passive aggressive wrt to him than I should be.
