I've always had to deal with avatar rule changes, leaving my avatar unchangeable.

The first time, my dancing cow was grandfathered in when rules required at least 500 posts for custom avatars.

Now, I'd like to change it back to the non-election version, but apparently animated avatars are no longer allowed. So this is what we're stuck with.

It's the front cover from Rush' Retrospective albums. It depict a painting made with Rush' 2112 album in mind. Neal Pearth (the drummer) had this to say about it:
"All it means is the abstract man against the masses. The red star symbolizes any collectivist mentality."

Maybe I should switch to an avatar that depict the original design. I guess a red star could give away the clue quicker for those unfamiliar with this great band.

Aha. With the blue color it stood out to me as of Masonic significance, which is ironically the polar opposite of collectivist mentality. Though I think the former is upside down, unless I'm thinking of Wicca, oh who knows...

I'll bring up animated avatars with the Administration. It was the default in the new vB to disallow them (in fact, until I adjusted the usergroup profiles, no custom avatars at all were permitted), so it may not be intentional to disallow them.

I was inspired by this thread from a private message from a fellow Apolytoner who asked about my avatar.

In my heteroerotic avatar, Jean Grey and Wolverine are making out, in case others find it difficult to identify the two.

The whole Jean Grey loves Wolverine is/was totally bogus crap that was made up to boost sales. They pushed the idea in one of those Classic Xmen rags where she confessed to Prof X "an undeniable attraction to" Wolverine. But in the the real Xmen #99, it's clear it's the other way around, and Jean not only isn't interested, but can't stand him ("It's Ms. Grey to you, buster. I've tried real hard to like you... but you'd better BACK OFF!!!")

Yes, I know that by knowing this it raises my geek level dramatically. I can accept that.

Last movie sucked also.

I loved all three X-Men movies. But then, I haven't read any of the comics so I don't know that much of the variations you may have found distasteful.

I hated how they wrote off Cyclops. I guess kids don't care too much for him, espec compared to Wolverine, but he was an excellent leader and tough fighter. Also that Jean loved him completely (his being injured by aliens causing Jean to freak and become Dark Phoenix again) as opposed to killing him with no compunctions in the movie.
