  • Is there a religion an intelligent person can follow?

I'm looking for a religion to follow. Now that I have realized I cannot explain the nature of consciousness and thought, I'm looking for a supernatural explanation. I'm looking for a religion to join.
However, I'm looking for something that isn't laden with mythology and rituals and lack of logic. I'm looking for something that says:
Okay, this is a fact that science has not been able to explain; however, if you accept that as an axiom, it can be explained, here's a proof: blah, bleh, QED.

If they are able to rigorously prove this, I'll gladly accept that that is true.
Have you ever seen any attempts to refine one of the world religions into a coherent system like one I described?

Make up your own one. Your handmade explination will be just as reasonable as any out there, and you will have complete control as to the level of mysticism and myth involved.

An additional benefit of course is that if you happen to make a good one, you could end up being labelled a prophet, and thus possibly gain fame and fortune in this life, and something good in whatever afterlife you crafted.

One has to admit that having a guy/God rise from the grave 3 days later is illogical. Though Christianity isn't about logic & reason, it's about faith.

They (major world religions) all can claim adhearents that most people would define as intelligent. Though you seem to be wishing more for a God of the Gaps type of religion and you can find something like that in any fundamentalist church.

Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity tend to be more coherent than the ad hoc Protestant churches. And they're kinder to your manhood than Judaism. If you don't like the Russian church, is it possible for you to go to a Greek church? I don't know how things work over there.

Proestant Episcopalianism has been described as a religion where one does not have to leave one's brain at the front door.

It's also been described as one where you can leave your faith at the door too.

                          I'd say Catholicism.

There is your first mistake. Learn from, sure, even agree with in the main, but follow? Nah-ahh, bad move. Never give up thinking for yourself.
