  • I'm upset with Obama's choice for a speaker, but I am not calling Obama a bigot.
    Hypocrite...

I think he's saying that you've articulated an idea that anyone who doesn't back gay marriage is a bigot. Obama doesn't back gay marriage, ergo... bigot.

    • simple correction isn't enough. because you are kuci's rl friend or dislike me, you have to jump on every correction of his mistakes and start defending them in order to criticize [...] people who point out mistakes kuci has made.

Lemme guess, you are a grammar Nazi too?

I was about to criticize you for your pedantry.

did you read my posts? the point was NOT that it was written wrong. the point WAS that anybody who's knows about the subject enough to be an "expert" would not write about it as "aids virus", but would subconsciously realize "no, that's wrong" without even writing about it, and would just write about "aids" or "hi-virus"

this WAS not supposed to be a underwritten point to laugh at kuci's display of non-expertise either. that's why i just tossed the pedantric point out there without naming any names.

            • kuci did not do anything ridiculous by making a pedantic mistake which revealed his non-expertise (thus, no reason to laugh at his "mistake" which was trivial and not noticiable unless you're an expert on the subject).

che and theben did, and i think they should laugh at their excuses instead of making more with a straight face.

honestly, has nobody else wondered how on earth every thread degenerates within 100 posts into posters trying to play coy games over social status of each others these days?

                • You've yet to substantiate 'social status' and I'll take Kuci's expertise any day over yours.

See, the only problem with all that is it's incorrect. I've known multiple bio PhD's who've called it "the AIDS virus", because no one besides you gives a ****.

What are you talking about? It people who have faith in something with zero basis for that faith are not considered insane, why should we turn around and consider people insane for believing in something in which there is a exceedingly shaky basis for that belief?

The question is not whether or not it is true. The question is whether or not someone would have to be insane for believing it, which they clearly would not. If something is more plausible than an omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient invisible being, then belief in it should not be considered insane.

                              • VJ, you're being an ass. It's a perfectly acceptable practice to refer to HIV as "the AIDS virus." If a biologist referred to "the life cycle of malaria" at a news conference, and another biologist stood up and said "you mean the life cycle of certain protozoan parasites of the genus Plasmodium. You really should use proper terminology," guess what would happen? Everyone present would roll their eyes at the second biologist for being a pedantic dip****, that's what would happen. At least, I hope that's what would happen. I'd have to ask Starchild what he thinks sometime.

We all knew what Kuci meant; nobody who hasn't been living under a rock hasn't heard of HIV. The distinction between HIV and AIDS has been used for a gag on Family Guy, FFS. So, if anyone here is starting a stupid fight for no reason, it's you.

Also, I don't know Kuci IRL. I do dislike you, but mostly because you pull moron stunts like this on a distressingly regular basis.
